NPDES Storm Water Regulations
EPA's Construction General Permit implements Phase II of NPDES Storm Water Regulations governing all construction sites, one acre or larger. New regulations require that Construction Site Operators:
- Develop Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans
- Develop BMP's for Erosion and Sediment Control (wattles, silt fencing, catch basin inserts, sweeping for sediment and dust control)
- Reduce storm water pollution by the "Maximum Extent Practicable"
- Treat ground water before dewatering. Reduce conductance and turbidity. Test temperature and pH before discharging
- Protect drain inlets during construction to prevent illicit discharges
